DirecTV CEO gets 12% increase

DirecTV Group Inc. reported 2007 compensation of $13.9 million for Chief Executive Chase Carey, 12% more than the previous year. The pay included a salary of $2.21 million and a bonus of $4.2 million, El Segundo-based DirecTV said in a regulatory filing.
Carey, who has run the company since 2003, expanded high-definition programming, boosted average revenue per U.S. subscriber and cut the monthly cancellation rate to the lowest in eight years in 2007. DirecTV’s fourth-quarter profit beat analysts’ estimates.
