The city will receive $210 million in federal funds to help reduce freeway traffic and improve bus service -- the largest congestion-easing grant awarded to any city to date, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced Thursday.
The money will be used by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the California Department of Transportation to convert existing carpool lanes to high-occupancy toll lanes on 28 miles of the San Bernardino Freeway from Alameda Street to the 605 Freeway and on 33 miles of the 110 Freeway from 182nd Street/Artesia Transit Center to Adams Boulevard.
