A man was fatally shot after he and a friend tried to stop a group of taggers in Hollywood, authorities said Thursday.
Police found Jose Jorge Perez, 29, in his car in the 900 block of North Hobart Boulevard about 9 p.m. Wednesday, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Richard French said.
The friend, who was also in the car, suffered gunshot wounds, French said. He was listed in stable condition Thursday at a hospital, French said.
Perez and his friend, a 41-year-old Hollywood man, were driving around their neighborhood when they spotted a group of men tagging and told them to stop, French said.
A man believed to be in his early 20s then confronted the pair for “yelling at his friends,” French said, and fired multiple shots into the car before fleeing.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Det. Rolando Rodriguez at (213) 972-2910.
