What an arrogant person! Rene Marie agreed to sing the national anthem for the mayor of Denver’s state of the city address but never intended to do so, instead opting for the lyrics of the song known as the black national anthem. “I knew that if I asked to do my version of the national anthem, the answer would be ‘no,’ ” she said.

That’s because there is only one version of our national anthem. If you don’t want to sing it as written, then don’t agree to sing it.
