Johnson continues mastery of Cubs

PHOENIX -- Randy Johnson improved to 13-0 in 14 starts against the Chicago Cubs, outpitching Rich Harden in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 2-0 victory on Monday night.

Johnson (7-7) gave up two hits, struck out four and walked one in seven innings for his 291st victory.

“That’s as good a stuff as I’ve seen in a while,” Arizona Manager Bob Melvin said. “I think there was a little extra amp today. . . . To do what he did to that club that’s No. 1 in the National League in offense is pretty special.”

Harden, in his second start for Chicago after a trade with Oakland, gave up one hit in seven innings -- Alex Romero’s first major league home run to lead off the sixth. It was the first run Harden gave up in 10 1/3 innings since joining the Cubs.

Harden (0-1) pitched seven innings, striking out 10 and walking two.
