Re “Smoking in apartments could be out,” May 30
In hawking his bill to ban smoking in apartment buildings, state Sen. Alex Padilla (D-Pacoima) reveals the lack of substance behind it by using the standard emotional motivator “to protect children and their families.”
Why not be honest? It’s all about people being annoyed, not at risk. I will bet the (tobacco) farm that there is not a single reputable study that links the health problems of adults, children or pets with secondhand smoke coming from someone else’s apartment. What next? A ban on cooking cauliflower or the use of vinegar as a cleaning solution?
