Numerous beautiful chateaux exist in the Loire Valley. One particularly charming chateau that is often overlooked is the Chateau de Valencay. From Blois, it is a wondrous two-hour drive through gorgeous countryside. A five-minute walk from the chateau is the memorable Musee de l’Automobile, which houses about 60 vehicles dating from 1898 until 1979.
Parc & Chateau de Valencay, 2 Rue de Blois, Valencay; 011-33-2-5400-1066, www.chateau-valencay.fr.
