Obama backers head for Nevada

California union members will go to Las Vegas this weekend to help campaign for democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama in the battleground state.
About 100 members of the Service Employees International Union will board two buses at local 721’s headquarters in Los Angeles tonight. Two more busloads will go from the Bay Area to Reno.
“A lot of people wanted to take the weekend and do their part to get behind the campaign,” said union spokeswoman Ellie Wallace.
Union officials say 3,000 SEIU members and staff have worked full-time on the election, and another 100,000 workers have volunteered on nights and weekends for the Obama campaign.
