Powerful earthquakes struck Indonesia and Japan, triggering tsunami alerts, but no wave was reported in Indonesia and Japan’s measured just 4 inches.
No damage or injuries were reported immediately. Indonesia’s preliminary magnitude was 6.6 and Japan’s was 7.
