Regarding the Jan. 1 story “Viacom, cable firm reach deal,” about the possibility of Viacom pulling 19 TV stations from the Time Warner Cable company schedule:
I read with amusement how Time Warner thought it unreasonable that in these trying economic times, Viacom would ask for such steep increases in the licensing fees for these programs.
I find it less amusing that in the past 11 months, the cost of my bare-bones broadcast cable TV service from Time Warner has gone from $8.83 to $15.92 a month. That increase works out to 80% in less than one year.
How reasonable is that in these trying economic times?
