Chicago 11, at Cleveland 4 (6 innings): The White Sox chased Indians ace Cliff Lee in the fourth inning of a game called in the seventh inning because of rain.
at New York 8, Seattle 5: Mariano Rivera delivered a ceremonial first pitch as the Yankees honored him for earning his 500th career save, and then pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 19th save in 20 chances.
Tampa Bay 4, at Toronto 1: B.J. Upton, Carl Crawford and Willy Aybar hit solo homers as the Rays won their seventh straight game.
Minnesota 2, at Kansas City 1: Scott Baker fought through a high pitch count to keep the Twins in a tight game early. Minnesota also took advantage of another defensive miscue by the Royals for the go-ahead run in the sixth inning.
Detroit 5, at Oakland 3: A resurgent Armando Galarraga pitched two-hit ball into the seventh inning, and Placido Polanco homered and drove in three runs for the Tigers.
at Texas 9, Angels 5: The Angels had their six-game winning streak snapped, but are still 1 1/2 games ahead of Texas in the West.
