CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / OAKLAND

His position as the state’s top law enforcement authority did not protect Jerry Brown -- or his car -- when thieves made off with two of the attorney general’s tires last week.
While Brown was in Sacramento on business last Friday, someone swiped the passenger-side tires off his Toyota Camry Hybrid, which was parked in front of his home.
Brown spokesman Scott Gerber said the attorney general filed a police report and that no suspects had been identified.
In a posting on his Facebook page, the attorney general said, “Even though I am California’s ‘top cop,’ 2 of my tires were stolen.
“No matter.
“I got 2 new ones and I’m rolling again!”
