at No. 9 Penn State 31, Akron 7: Daryll Clark threw for 353 yards and three touchdowns as Penn State Coach Joe Paterno was on the sideline for the first time since hip-replacement surgery last year.
at No. 22 Iowa 17, Northern Iowa 16: Iowa’s Broderick Binns blocked Billy Hallgren’s potential winning 40-yard attempt on first down with seven seconds left, but the Hawkeyes allowed the Panthers to recover the ball with a second left. Jeremiha Hunter got his hand on Hallgren’s attempt on second down to preserve the win.
at Michigan State 44, Montana State 3: Kirk Cousins threw three touchdown passes and Keith Nichol threw two for the Spartans.
at Michigan 31, Western Michigan 7: Tate Forcier threw three touchdown passes and Denard Robinson ran for a score before halftime for the Wolverines.
at Purdue 53, Toledo 31: Ralph Bolden ran for 234 yards and two touchdowns in Danny Hope’s coaching debut for the Boilermakers.
at Wisconsin 28, Northern Illinois 20: Isaac Anderson caught a pass for a touchdown and ran for another for Wisconsin.
at Northwestern 47, Towson 14: Mike Kafka led three touchdown drives in the first quarter for the Wildcats.
