Ford Motor Co. said it would spend $490 million to build an assembly plant in China to produce the next-generation Focus compact car, which it plans to sell globally.
The plant will be built in Chongqing, China, in a joint venture with Japan’s Mazda Motor Corp. and China’s Changan Automotive, Ford said.
