‘127 Hours’: Screenwriter Simon Beaufoy’s key scene
- Share via
“I suppose the flood scene. It was really risky for me. I always thought it was very important to lead people away from thinking they knew what happened in this film. Not a single person who walks into the theater doesn’t know that he cuts off his arm and that he gets out alive. So, somehow, you have to make everybody in the audience forget that — to suspend their knowledge of what really happened. So, the flood scene is a gamble, really, of leading people down another path — to keep the tension going.”
