Shirley Jones’ memoir reportedly dropping sexy Joan Collins tale

Joan Collins, the 80-year-old “Dynasty” star, reportedly asked to be removed from Shirley Jones’ tell-all autobiography in a scene involving the offer of an orgy.
Jones recently published “Shirley Jones: A Memoir.” In the book, the “Partridge Family” actress and Oscar-winner depicts a scene in which the young actresses and their then-husbands, Jack Cassidy and Anthony Newley, had dinner at Collins and Newley’s Beverly Hills home in the late ‘60s.

In the book, Jones writes that Collins, “who was wearing a low-cut something or other, seemed like an interesting woman.”

The book claims that dinner ended with an indecent proposal, and, according to Jones, “it was clear what Tony was leading up to -- swinging.”

Collins claims the story is completely false, according to TMZ, which says the actress sent a cease and desist letter to Jones and her publisher, Simon & Schuster, demanding the passage be excised.

“We all make mistakes,” Collins told TMZ, “I’ve made a few myself, but not with Mrs. Jones. I’m a serial monogamist.”

After an initial standoff, Jones and Simon & Schuster reportedly agreed to remove Collins’ name from the book, according to TMZ, which says this retraction will go into effect immediately in e-book copies, and in future reprints of the memoir.

Asked for confirmation, a publisher’s representative responded, “No comment.”
