Notable recent U.S. acquisitions by Chinese companies
March 2016: AMC Entertainment, which itself had been purchased by China’s Dalian Wanda Group in 2012, buys Carmike Cinemas, the fourth-largest U.S. theater chain, for $1.1 billion
Jan. 2016: Dalian Wanda Group buys Burbank production company Legendary Entertainment for $3.5 billion
Aug. 2015: Dalian Wanda buys World Triathlon Corp. of Tampa, Fla., for $900 million.
Oct. 2014: Anbang Insurance Group buys New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel for $1.95 billion
Aug. 2014: Dalian Wanda buys the site of the former Robinsons-May department store in Beverly Hills for $420 million, planning to build a condominium and luxury hotel complex on the site.
Oct. 2013: Fosun International buys 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza, a 60-story office tower in New York City, for $725 million
May 2013: Shuanghui International Holdings of Hong Kong buys Smithfield Foods Inc., the largest U.S. pork producer, for $4.7 billion
