More people are finding work in California.
The stated added 11,440 private sector jobs during the month of August, according to a report by ADP, a company that provides payroll, human resources and other services to employers.
The report, which ADP produced with Moody’s Analytics Inc., measures the change in regional and state non-farm private employment. The state labor department will report August employment numbers later this month.
QUIZ: How much do you know about California’s economy?
ADP’s report found big job gains in transportation and utilities as well as professional and business services. The state lost construction, mining and goods-producing jobs.
The report was not all good news. The state’s August jobs gain was 37% lower than the 18,850 new jobs the sate has been adding, on average, for the last six months.
Job creation remains one of the most closely watched areas of the economy’s recovery.
