Rangers star Shin-Soo Choo sells Texas-sized mansion in Southlake

Following five years of ownership and four price cuts, Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo has finally sold his Texas home, records show. The amenity-filled mansion first came up for sale in 2017 for $2.675 million and most recently offered for $2.1 million.

The one-acre estate sits in Southlake, a Dallas/Fort Worth suburb about 20 miles north of the Rangers stadium. Choo bought the property in 2014 a few months after joining the team, public records show.

Stone covers the eye-catching exterior and continues into the living spaces, lining three of the home’s eight fireplaces. Other highlights include walls of glass, crown molding and wrought-iron accents.

In 9,800 square feet, there are six bedrooms, as well as a two-story living room and expansive granite kitchen. For amenities, there’s a movie theater with a wet bar, a game room with custom built-ins, a hobby room, a wine room and a sauna.

A second-story balcony overlooks the entertainer’s backyard, where covered lounges surround a swimming pool with a spa, slide, sun shelves and a grotto. Dense landscaping fills out the outdoor space.

A native of South Korea, Choo signed with the Mariners in 2005 and has since played for the Indians, Reds and Rangers. Since signing a seven-year deal with the Rangers worth $130 million, he hit for the cycle in 2015 and was named an All-Star three years later.
