Tony Awards 2014: Watch ‘In Memoriam’ clip not seen on TV broadcast

A reliable staple of entertainment award shows, the “In Memoriam” montage of notable personalities who died in the past year was conspicuously absent from the Tony Awards ceremony Sunday. Or at least it was for viewers at home watching the telecast on CBS.
At the ceremony at Radio City Music Hall in New York, producers presented their “In Memoriam” segment during a commercial break. It was one of the time-saving measures meant to keep the broadcast running at a manageable length. (The technical and writing awards were also relegated to off-air time.)
Tony producers have posted this year’s “In Memoriam” montage online, and it’s viewable in the video above. Among the notable names included in the segment are Philip Seymour Hoffman, whose last Broadway performance was as Willy Loman in the 2012 revival of “Death of a Salesman,” and James Gandolfini, who appeared in the 2009 production of “God of Carnage.”
The background music in the clip is “The Impossible Dream” from the musical “Man of La Mancha.”
