Queen to visit ‘Game of Thrones’ set during Northern Ireland trip

Forget winter — Queen Elizabeth II herself is coming to the “Game of Thrones” set in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
“As part of the visit to Northern Ireland The Queen and The Duke will tour the @GameOfThrones set in the Titanic quarter #Belfast #GoT,” the monarchy’s official Twitter feed announced Wednesday.
Titanic Studios’ Paint Hall in Belfast has welcomed “Game of Thrones,” according to the Belfast Telegraph. Castle Black and the Wall were filmed at a defunct quarry in Magheramorne, north of the city. Various other locations in Northern Ireland have been used as well.
The queen will visit with Prince Philip this week. The HBO series’ season 4 finale aired Sunday in the U.S.
Another recent royal “set visit” wasn’t quite as potentially authentic, as the sets in question were out of use and had been placed in a sort of captivity.
Prince William, a then-pregnant Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry checked out “Harry Potter” sets and props in April 2013 as part of the inauguration of the British Warner Bros. Studio Tour London.
