Kanye West changes his album title again

Just as the unseasonable bloom of jacarandas are suddenly dusting L.A. streets with lavender-hued blossoms, Kanye West has had a new idea, and it arrived quickly.
The rapper/producer/designer is prepping for a follow-up to his 2013 album “Yeezus,” a divisive but potent feast of hip-hop and noise music that sometimes felt thwarted by its mixed messages and hastily composed lyrics.
The forthcoming new record had supposedly been titled “So Help Me God.” God, perhaps declining to help him with that particular title, has sent Ye in a new, much more succinct direction.
The new album title? “Swish.”
But don’t get too comfortable with that metaphor suggesting an easy basketball victory (or perhaps the sound of a leather jogging pant on a breezy afternoon), Kanye fans.
“I might change it again but that’s the name right now,” he wrote. Like all of us this Monday morning, Kanye is just trying to find the language to represent his interior turmoil and vision, and to make that inner life feel known to himself and others. Good luck and godspeed, we all need it.
Kanye most recently hopped onstage with the Weeknd at Coachella’s second half, and plays Power 106-FM’s Power House concert in Anaheim on May 16.
