Listen: John Legend ropes in Jennifer Nettles for twangy ‘All of Me’

A successful management consultant before his music career took off, John Legend knows all about the importance of capitalizing on a good thing.
So it comes as little surprise that he’d look for a way to extend the life of his song “All of Me,” which recently gave the singer his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
But who knew it’d be any good?
Super-dreary in its original piano-ballad form, “All of Me” feels much livelier in a new acoustic rendition that features vocals by Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes on guitar. Last week the trio performed the song on the CMT Music Awards, and Monday a studio version appeared on iTunes. (Listen to it above.)
The twangy take isn’t Legend’s first reworking of his biggest hit; earlier this year he released a thumping dance remix by Tiësto.
Maybe we’ll get a salsa version next?
