Chelsea Handler does Sundance: Film festival to debut her Netflix documentary series

In keeping with the larger theme of her upcoming Netflix documentary series, Chelsea Handler is doing Sundance.

The series “Chelsea Does” will make its world premiere at next year’s Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 22 before launching for Netflix audiences the following Saturday.

The series is executive produced by longtime television host (“Chelsea Lately”) and bestselling author Handler, as well as documentary film veterans Eddie Schmidt (Oscar-nominated for “Twist of Fate) and Morgan Neville (Oscar winner for “20 Feet From Stardom.)

Schmidt will also be serving as director of the four films (titled, respectively, “Chelsea Does Marriage,” “Chelsea Does Racism,” “Chelsea Does Silicon Valley” and “Chelsea Does Drugs”) that follow the provocative comedian as she examines topics that fascinate her and, hopefully, intrigue audiences.

Netflix also released a trailer for “Chelsea Does” featuring the comedian interrogating children about marriage, smoking pot with Willie Nelson, and informing a Native American that the last time she was on a reservation was probably when she was at a casino, which is all a person can really ask for in a two-minute trailer for a television series.

“Chelsea Does” will be available to stream Jan. 23 exclusively on Netflix.
