More details have become available about Tracy Morgan’s condition following his involvement in a deadly multi-vehicle wreck early Saturday.
The comedian sustained a broken leg, a broken femur, a broken nose and several broken ribs, according to Morgan’s publicist, Lewis Kay. Kay added that Morgan “has been more responsive today.”
Morgan was hospitalized after his chauffeured limousine, also carrying comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton, was involved in a multi-vehicle accident in New Jersey. Another passenger, comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, was killed on impact.
Morgan, who is under care at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., had surgery on his leg, Kay said.
“We expect him to remain in the hospital for several weeks,” Kay continued in a statement. “His family is tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”
The driver of the tractor-trailer, 35-year-old Kevin Roper of Georgia, was charged with one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto, the Middlesex County, N.J., prosecutor’s office stated. He turned himself in Saturday evening and posted $50,000 bail.
