Tommy Hilfiger menswear to skip New York Fashion Week runway

The spring and summer 2014 Tommy Hilfiger menswear collection won’t be showing on the New York Fashion Week runway in September, reports fashion industry trade paper Women’s Wear Daily.
According to WWD, the label has decided to forgo the traditional runway format, focusing instead on “seasonal marketing programs” to reach the menswear consumer -- things akin to the Prep World and Surf Shack concepts that have popped up on a temporary basis around the country in recent years.
The Tommy Hilfiger women’s collection, which accounts for 40% of the Phillips-Van Heusen-owned brand’s global retail sales, will remain on the New York Fashion Week docket, WWD says.
Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week, which will showcase designers’ spring 2014 collections, runs Sept. 5 to 12 at the Lincoln Center.
