SAG Awards 2013: Best and worst dressed
The biggest risk taker of the night: January Jones, wearing a black-and-white Prabal Gurung gown with an intriguing sheer, scarf-like effect at the neck. Her blond hair was swept into a punky pompadour-mullet like David Bowie from his Aladdin Sane days. It was totally rockin’. (Matt Sayles / InvisionAP)

Ralph Rucci is one of the most talented American designers working today, but his name is more typically associated with socialites than starlets. Until now. Michelle Dockery (“Downton Abbey”) looked smoldering in a vintage black Ralph Rucci gown with sheer cutouts revealing the contours of her side cleavage. Yes, side cleavage, and in a good way. It was elegant but also a little naughty. (Jordan Strauss / InvisionAP)
One of several anything-but-basic-black gowns, Hathaway’s edgy Giambattista Valli creation, with corseted bodice, and full tulle skirt revealing a shorter skirt underneath, made her look like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn. (Allen J. Schaben / Los Angeles Times)
Naomi Watts’ silver embroidered Marchesa gown was delicate and lovely. (Mark Boster / Los Angeles Times)

Nicole Kidman’s Vivienne Westwood gown with delicate black-and-navy blue floral embroidery on the front was an elegant and romantic choice. (Matt Sayles / InvisionAP)
Claire Danes’ one-sleeve black Givenchy gown with white geometric trim framing the leg slit was a dramatic minimalist statement. (Matt Sayles / InvisionAP)
There have been a lot of white gowns on red carpets lately, but Kerry Washington’s white silk tulle and silver lace creation with a corseted bodice by Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy is something special. (Frazer Harrison / Getty Images)
It was Marion Cotillard once again, not Jennifer Lawrence, who nabbed the evening’s best Dior by Raf Simons gown, with an ivory silk faille bustier and dark blue-green, high-low skirt. Her short bob hairstyle was the exception to the evening’s many side-swept waves, and it was so very French and chic. (Frazer Harrison / Getty Images)

Tina Fey has never looked better than in this strapless black Oscar de la Renta gown, with a crystal belt and vava-voom hairstyle. (Matt Sayles / InvisionAP)
Freida Pinto’s shocking pink draped Roland Mouret gown had the surprising detail of flirty black bows in back. Pinto is also wearing killer black Roger Vivier Papillon heels. (Jason Kempin / Getty Images)
Jayma Mays in a fun, modish take on the white gown trend by Georges Hobeika. (Kirk McKoy / Los Angeles Times)
Not Jennifer Lawrence’s best Dior moment at all. Too plain Jane. (Frazer Harrison / Getty Images)

A lot of Jessica Rabbit tweets went out when Jessica Chastain stepped out in this red, body-hugging Alexander McQueen gown. Frankly, it just wasn’t that interesting-looking. (Kevork Djansezian / Getty Images)
Julianne Moore’s dress was such a great Chanel haute couture gown, but such a poor fit. It was blousy in the cleavage area and a bit bunchy in back. Still a great dress, just unfortunate it didn’t look as great as it could. (Jason Kempin / Getty Images)
Naya Rivera’s corseted Donna Karan gown with sheer accordion pleating across the decolletage was a lot to take in. (Frazer Harrison / Getty Images)
Ellie Kemper’s sea-foam green Reem Acra with floral embroidery and giant half bow at the waist looked a bit too much like a bridesmaid’s dress. (Kevork Djansezian / Getty Images)

This frothy peach, long-sleeved confection was too mother-of-the-bride for a 15-year-old Ariel Winter. (Alberto E. Rodriguez / Getty Images)
This white gold lame, asymmetrically draped Donna Karan gown made Sofia Vergara look off-center. (Alberto E. Rodriguez / Getty Images)
