Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Avenal, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday afternoon three miles from Avenal, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 3:01 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 9.9 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 15 miles from Coalinga, Calif.; 24 miles from Lemoore, Calif.; 29 miles from Corcoran, Calif.; and 189 miles from Sacramento, Calif.
In the last 10 days, there have been three earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
