Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes near Portola, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Friday afternoon, 11 miles from Portola, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:11 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.8 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 40 miles from Truckee, Calif., 43 miles from Susanville, Calif., 43 miles from Grass Valley, Calif., and 64 miles from Carson City, Nev.
In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
