5 arrested after investigation into human trafficking ring

Reporting from Ventura County — Ventura County authorities say five people have been arrested after an investigation in to a human trafficking ring involving prostitution.
Undersheriff Gary Pentis said at a Tuesday press conference that the victims were Chinese women in the U.S. on visas.
The Ventura County Star says investigators made arrests after targeting advertisements of sex found on websites and social media.
Up to 28 victims were kept captive in hotel rooms, which they had to pay for.
Pentis called the conditions “modern slavery.”
