5 homes burned in fast-moving Fairfield fire

Several homes were burned in the Northern California city of Fairfield after a brush fire entered a residential neighborhood.

The fire started Tuesday afternoon off Interstate 80. Residents were forced to evacuate their homes.

KTVU-TV reported that the fire burned five homes. But the extent of the damage was not clear. Firefighters were getting control of the blaze.

Reisdent Darrell Prill watched as firefighters went into his home to put out the flames that were shooting from his roof.

“It was very scary, but I have home owner’s insurance,” Prill told Fox 40 News.

Several fire departments had a hand in containing the flames, including Fairfield, Solano and Vacaville.

“I didn’t ask them, but firefighters were able to save something important. My military memorabilia. That’s what we wanted,” Prill said.

Crews were able to save Prill’s home.

“There’s a lot of damage, but that’s what the insurance is for,” Prill said.
