A 9-year-old boy was mauled to death by his guardian’s three pit bulls after he was left alone with the dogs inside her mobile home in Northern California, authorities said.
The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department said the 24-year-old unidentified woman left the child alone on Sunday in Linda, Calif., and went to work. She returned about three hours later and found the boy had been mauled by the dogs.
The child was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The department said that the woman was the child’s guardian and a suspect in the case but that no arrests had been made. It released no other details.
It said the dogs were seized by Animal Care Services, which reported having no history with the animals.
