A Bay Area transit police officer was shot in the arm Christmas morning, authorities said.
The officer was shot after he and another officer approached a man in a parking area at the Hayward station about 11:15 a.m., BART spokeswoman Denisse Gonzalez said.
As the officers were attempting to identify the man, he fled and shot at the officers as he ran. The second officer fired and hit the man, Gonzalez said.
