Victim of bow and arrow slaying in Lancaster is identified

A Lancaster man is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on suspicion of killing a person with a bow and arrow who was trying to break up a fight.
Garrett Adams, 23, is being held in lieu of $1-million bail in connection with Saturday’s early-morning slaying.
The victim was identified as Charles Emmanuel Briggs, 27.
Authorities said Adams’ brother and Briggs went to a house in the middle of the night Saturday to try to break up a fight between Adams and Adams’ girlfriend.
The fight eventually ended up outside the home on the sidewalk about 3:30 a.m., which is when, officials say, Adams armed himself with a bow and arrow and shot Briggs once in the upper torso.
Briggs was rushed to an Antelope Valley hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Adams was arrested and is due in a Lancaster courtroom Tuesday.
The slaying is the fifth homicide in Lancaster in the last 12 months, according to the Homicide Report database.
