A convicted sex offender could face 30 years to life in state prison after being charged with attempted kidnapping in Palmdale.
Richard Henry Stine, 39, pleaded no contest Monday to one count of kidnapping to commit robbery, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
“Stine additionally admitted two prior strike convictions for forcible rape and kidnapping in 1999,” the district attorney’s office said.
In August, Stine allegedly attempted to kidnap a 17-year-old girl as she walked along a street in Palmdale. The plan was foiled by a Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident and called 911, prosecutors said.
Stine’s sentencing in Los Angeles County Superior Court is scheduled for Nov. 19.
