Flames engulfed a large, single-story commercial building in Rancho Dominguez on Monday night, causing significant damage as dozens of firefighters sought to bring the blaze under control.
The fire broke out about 9 p.m. in the 2000 block of East Gladwick Street, said Kyle Sanford, a dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The area has several large warehouses and industrial buildings.
The blaze sent plumes of smoke into the night sky, and witnesses heard several small explosions coming from the fire, KCAL-TV Channel 9 reported.
More than 75 firefighters were at the approximately 22,500-square-foot structure, Sanford said.
No injuries were reported. It’s unclear what ignited the fire.
