Former Chicago Bulls player gets probation for DUI in Beverly Hills

Former Chicago Bulls forward Ronnie Brewer has been sentenced to three years’ probation after pleading no contest to driving under the influence in Beverly Hills.
Brewer, 29, entered the plea through an attorney Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office. The DUI charge was a misdemeanor.
The basketball player was arrested after a traffic stop on Feb. 19 near Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive, prosecutors said. Prosecutors had alleged his blood-alcohol level was more than 0.15% -- about twice the legal blood-alcohol limit.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Edward Moreton sentenced Brewer to three years’ summary probation and three months of alcohol abuse classes, the district attorney’s office said. He also was ordered to attend 10 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and to pay $390 in fines.
Brewer was first drafted by the Utah Jazz in 2006, and has played for six NBA teams. The Chicago Bulls released him last month.
