A hit-and-run driver struck a 22-year-old man in Sherman Oaks early Sunday, causing severe head injuries to the victim, authorities said.
The injured man, a Van Nuys resident whose name has not been released, remained in critical condition at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, said Officer Bill McConnell of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.
The incident occurred about 1:45 a.m. on Ventura Boulevard near Kester Avenue in Sherman Oaks, McConnell said. The victim was seated in his Ford Focus, which was stopped at a valet station when it was struck by a silver Hyundai, he added.
Police are still searching for the driver of the Hyundai, who sped off heading west on Ventura Boulevard.
A parking attendant who was opening the door of the victim’s vehicle at the time of the incident was not injured.
