Long Beach police are investigating a shooting Tuesday night that left one woman dead and possibly wounded a man.
The shooting was reported about 10:05 p.m. in the 3500 block of Monica Avenue, according to Nancy Pratt, a spokeswoman for the department.
Officers arriving at the location found a woman who had been shot. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Pratt said.
Authorities were later notified by staff from a nearby hospital about a man who was admitted after being shot. The man’s injuries were not life-threatening, Pratt said.
Investigators are trying to determine whether both victims were involved in the same incident. The investigation remained ongoing Wednesday, Pratt said.
The name of the dead woman was not immediately released. No other injuries were reported.
