A SWAT team was trying to persuade a man to come out of a Lake Elsinore house Saturday evening, as a standoff that began at 2 p.m. entered its seventh hour.
Riverside law enforcement officials are operating under the belief that the man is armed.
Riverside County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 800 block of Graham Avenue after receiving a 911 call of a man brandishing a weapon, according to Patty Spoyer, a spokeswoman for the agency.
She did not specify the type of weapon.
By the time deputies arrived on the scene, the man had barricaded himself inside a home, Spoyer said.
“This is still an active scene,” she said.
Spoyer said it was unknown if there were other people inside the house.
