Orson Welles’ legendary “Citizen Kane” will for the first time be shown at Hearst Castle, according to reports.
The movie will be screened in the private theater at the hilltop mansion in March as part of the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, Variety reported.
The screening comes more than 70 years after William Randolph Hearst unsuccessfully sought to halt the movie’s release. Welles’ film is considered by many critics and filmmakers to be the greatest movie ever made.
Tickets will costs $1,000 each and will go to benefit the festival and the Friends of Hearst Castle preservation group.
In 2012, the movie was screened at the Hearst Castle visitors center, about two miles away from the castle.
