An elementary school in South Los Angeles was placed on lockdown Tuesday after witnesses reported hearing gunfire nearby, authorities said.
Shots were first reported near the intersection of 112th Street and Hooper Avenue around 2:05 p.m., said LAPD Sgt. Steven Tannert.
Less than a block away is 112th Street Elementary School, and Los Angeles Unified School District officials confirmed that the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution.
No one has been reported injured by gunfire, and no one has been taken into custody in connection with the suspected shooting, Tannert said.
