A 21-year-old woman was found shot to death in a Long Beach alley early Wednesday, police said.
Officers were dispatched to the alley in the 1100 block of E. 21st Street shortly after 1 a.m. to look into a report about a person on the ground. A caller told authorities that gunshots were heard about an hour earlier but were not reported until the caller went outside and saw the body, officials said.
The victim, identified as Alicia Faith Todd of Signal Hill, was shot in her upper torso, police said. Earlier reports from police indicated the victim was a teenager.
Investigators have no description of a suspect or additional information. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone who may have information on the incident is asked to call Long Beach police at (562) 570-7244.
There have been four homicides in the last 12 months within a mile of where the woman’s body was found Wednesday, according to the Homicide Report.
Times staff writer Matt Hamilton contributed to this report.
