One person was killed and a second was wounded Thursday in a shooting in Redondo Beach.
The shooting was reported about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Inglewood and Marine avenues, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.
Witnesses told police that they saw two people arguing at the crosswalk and a third person attempted to intervene. During the dispute, someone pulled a handgun and fired at two of the people, police said.
Eduardo Sanchez told NBC4 News that he heard about six gunshots.
“I heard the first gunshot,” he said. “It went off ... boom! Then you hear, boom! boom! I armed myself and I ran out and went to go see what the commotion was about.”
Sanchez told the TV station he saw a young man on the ground at a nearby Arco gas station who had been shot in the stomach.
Police said one person died at the scene. The second person was taken to a hospital.
Police said the gunman fled and remains at large. The incident remains under investigation.
