Metrolink train halted over bomb scare

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad and Burbank police are checking a Metrolink train after a report of a possible bomb, Metrolink officials said.
At 12:28 p.m. a passenger aboard the 286 train headed toward Union Station from the Antelope Valley reported overhearing another passenger use the word “bomb” and alerted authorities.
“Obviously, given the enviroment and what occurred yesterday in Boston, we’ve pulled the train into Burbank,” said Metrolink spokesman Jeff Lustgarten. “The Sheriff’s Department is sweeping the train now.”
There were no reports of a suspicious package and no one has been arrested, Lustgarten said.
The train is more than 30 minutes behind schedule. Metrolink officials may reach out to local bus companies to help move passengers if the search takes too long, Lustgarten said.
