Man wounded by gunfire at family party dies at hospital

A man who was critically wounded by gunfire at a family party in South Los Angeles died Sunday, more than five hours after he was taken to the hospital, police said.
Authorities said the shooting occurred about 12:35 a.m. near Avalon and Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards after a guest was kicked out of the party and returned with a gun.
The gunman fled after shooting three people, including two women, one of whom was hit in the neck and the other in the chest. The victims were taken to L.A. County/USC Medical Center, where the male victim was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m.
Police said the women are expected to survive. The name of the victim who died was unavailable Sunday afternoon. The gunman remains at large.
