A body found Thursday morning in Washington state has been positively identified as that of local missing 6-year-old Jenise Wright, according to authorities.
On Friday, the Kitsap County Coroner identified Wright and determined the manner of her death was homicide, said Scott Wilson, spokesman for the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of death was not released, but Wilson said a homicide investigation had been opened.
Jenise, of East Bremerton, went missing from her family’s home in the Steele Creek Mobile Home Park on Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Jenise’s body was found in a forested area near where she disappeared.
Authorities would not comment on possible suspects or persons of interest.
