The South Coast Air Quality Management District will hold a meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Oak View Community Center in Huntington Beach, where a hearing board will consider whether to approve several proposed changes to Rainbow Environmental Services’ waste management facility on Nichols Lane, including enclosing the operation.
Residents of the surrounding Oak View community have complained for years about odors, dust and noise emanating from the trash and recycling facility, which is across from Oak View Elementary School, and have asked Rainbow to enclose its operations to contain the nuisances.
Rainbow says it is committed to enclosing the facility by December 2017 and that the plan is in the architectural and design phase.
The AQMD hearing is open to the public. The community center is at 17261 Oak Lane.
