Briefs: Ohana tryouts on Thursday

Ohana Sports Club will hold a girls’ volleyball make-up tryout session for 16-and-Under and 17-U and 18U-aged players Thursday at Los Caballeros Racquet and Sports Club in Fountain Valley (17272 Newhope Street).

The 16U tryout will run from 4 to 6 p.m., with the 17U-18U to follow from 8 to 10 p.m.

Team USA takes two against Aussies

The USA Water Polo Women’s National Team, which includes local athlete Alys Williams (Edison/UCLA), completed its three-game series with Australia Nov. 23 by taking an 8-7 victory at Dos Pueblos High in Goleta. Williams had one steal in the series finale.

All three games in the series were decided by an 8-7 score with Team USA winning twice.

Team USA next will play an exhibition game Dec. 13 against the Netherlands at Mira Costa High in Manhattan Beach. The team also will compete at the four-team Holiday Cup Dec. 15-20 at Corona del Mar High.
