The pitchers for JSerra and Servite were so good on Monday that no one deserved to lose the Trinity League game. And they didn’t.
The game was halted going into the 14th inning tied, 2-2, because of darkness. The Southern Section office said Tuesday it will be a tie.
The star for JSerra was Jake Pries, who came in and threw seven scoreless innings of relief, striking out 10. Colin Quinn threw the first six innings.
For Servite, the trio of junior Sean Paquet, senior Nigel Ward and sophomore Michael Frias pitched brilliantly against the No. 1 team in Southern California. Freshman Tanner Smith had a two-run single for Servite.
Servite pitchers didn’t allow a run after the second inning. JSerra pitchers didn’t allow a run from the fifth inning on. JSerra had 17 runners stranded on bases.
Orange Lutheran defeated Santa Margarita, 3-2. Garrett Calvert had two RBI. Cole Spear struck out four in 2 1/3 innings.
